Description

Im Hintergrund eine kleine Hütte, in deren Tür eine Frau und ein Mädchen erscheinen. Davor ein großer Baum mit einer Bank, von der der Pfarrer schwerfällig aufsteht, doch seinen Stock dabei stehen lässt. Von links eilt Lotte mit wehendem Gewand auf ihn zu, links außen eine kleinere Schwester, dahinter Werther. Darstellung in reich abgestuften, weichen Halbtönen.

Bezeichnet: Radiert unter der Darstellung links "Stothard Pinxt,", rechts "Ogborne sculpt." darunter mittig "CHARLOTE’S VISIT to the VICAR / The good Old Man was sitting upon his bench, / at sight of Charlotte, he forgot his Old Age and / his Oaken stick, and ventured to walk towards her, / she ran to him, and made him sit down again. / Vide the Sorrows of Werter. / LONDON. Published Novr. 30, 1785, by Thos. Macklin 39. Fleet Street."
